There's a new reason to linger at Gateway Mall. Anko, the Australian home and lifestyle brand known for well-designed everyday essentials at accessible price points, has opened its newest Philippine store at Level 2 of Gateway Mall 1 in Cubao, Quezon City — planting its flag in one of Metro Manila's busiest and most beloved commercial districts.
Spanning 1,455 square meters, the store sits at the center of Araneta City, the transit and lifestyle hub that draws thousands of Filipinos daily from across the metro and nearby provinces. Its location at the intersection of the MRT-3 and LRT-2 lines, along with major bus and jeepney routes, was no accident.Anko opens at Gateway Mall Cubao — the Australian home and lifestyle brand's 6th Philippine store brings affordable, well-designed everyday essentials to Araneta City.

WritWhen asked why Gateway, Anko Philippines Interim Country Manager Kimberly Mulligan pointed to the unmistakable energy of Quezon City, while Anko Global Chief Executive Officer Arjun Puri noted that the transport connectivity makes the location genuinely central and accessible to everyone — exactly the kind of reach the brand is after.
"Cubao has always been a place of connection, where people pass through, meet, and discover. And that's exactly where Anko wants to be: part of our customers' everyday routines. At Anko, we are guided by a simple belief that everyone should have access to well-designed, quality products at everyday affordable prices," Mulligan said.

Write Inside, shoppers will find Anko's signature range of homewares, kitchen essentials, beauty finds, travel accessories, stationery, and toys — all designed in Australia and priced for everyday life. The store layout prioritizes ease and discovery, whether customers are stocking up on household staples or stumbling upon a small upgrade that makes the morning routine a little better.

A milestone built by local hands
The Gateway store carries particular significance within the Anko story. It is the brand's sixth location in the Philippines and its first outside the Ayala Malls network — a deliberate expansion into Araneta City, long celebrated as the City of Firsts. It is also a store built almost entirely from the ground up by the local team, from fixtures and visual merchandising to final styling, with global support provided remotely.
"This store is especially meaningful because it reflects the strength and capability of our local team. It is not just another store opening for Anko, but it's a reflection of the incredible work our Filipino team can deliver and an important step in our continued growth in the Philippines," Puri said.
The opening was marked by a ribbon-cutting ceremony with Puri and Mulligan, joined by Anko Global Chief Retail Officer Lil Velis-Bowker, Global Operations Manager Rachael Eames, Gateway Store Manager Herald Quizon, Ayala Corporation Head of Strategy and Business Development Mark Uy, and Araneta City SVP of Leasing Ma. Lorna Fabian.
From one store to six in just over a year
Anko, established in 2017 as part of the Kmart Group, made its Philippine debut at Glorietta 2 in Makati City in November 2024. In just over a year, it has expanded to TriNoma, Alabang Town Center, Ayala Malls Manila Bay, and Ayala Malls Feliz — with more non-Ayala locations expected to follow.
Beyond its physical stores, the brand extends its reach through the Anko Club, a membership program available at anko.com/anko-club, offering exclusive updates, early access to new products, and perks for everyday shoppers.
For a brand built on the idea that good design shouldn't be a luxury, Cubao — busy, diverse, and deeply connected — feels like a natural home.
