Ayala Land is rolling its entire property portfolio behind a simple idea: one hour less electricity, every week, across the country.

The Zobel-led developer formally partnered with the Department of Energy (DOE) on Wednesday to join the O.N.E.: Oras Natin sa Efficiency campaign, which asks households and businesses to cut power use for one hour each week. The launch was held at Park Triangle in Taguig City.

The commitment spans more than 350 assets nationwide — 34 malls, 76 office buildings, 16 hotels, two resorts, 11 logistics facilities, 28 estates, 136 residential developments, 29 car parks, and 270 properties managed by Ayala Property Management Corp.

"At its core, this initiative is simple: one hour every week where we consciously reduce our energy consumption," said Ayala Land Chief Sustainability Officer Robert S. Lao. "But behind that simplicity is a powerful idea — that collective, consistent action can shape national outcomes."

The scale of Ayala Land's energy footprint makes the commitment significant. The company consumes roughly 1 million megawatt-hours of electricity annually across its diversified portfolio. The DOE partnership will be backed by stricter energy monitoring, deeper coordination with contractors and suppliers, and public awareness efforts targeting tenants and consumers.

The campaign aligns with Ayala Land's broader push toward a science-validated net zero greenhouse gas emissions target by 2050. The company reports that 98% of its commercial properties are either powered by renewable energy or covered by green building certifications, with 62 certified properties covering approximately 2.7 million square meters under LEED, EDGE, and WELL standards. It has also deployed 156 EV charging stations across 64 properties and installed 15.3 megawatts of solar capacity across 13 mall buildings — with plans to expand this to 38.4 MW by 2027.

The numbers behind the national campaign are already telling. DOE Secretary Sharon S. Garin cited measurable progress at the launch.

"As of today, 212 homes across the country have collectively saved over 73,000 megawatt-hours of electricity, equivalent to ₱885 million in savings," she said. "This is real. It is a measurable event. And it was built not through one grand event, but through consistent collective action week on week."
