Educational session highlights humane population management and responsible pet ownership
As conversations around responsible pet ownership grow in the Philippines, Companion Animal Rescue and Adoption (CARA) Welfare Philippines will bring community cat welfare into the spotlight at the International Pet Summit 2026, one of the country's largest gatherings for pet owners, animal professionals, and advocates. The three-day event runs July 24-26 at the SMX Convention Center Manila, bringing together organizations, experts, and the public to discuss the future of companion animal health and responsible pet care.

On July 24 at 10:30 a.m., CARA Welfare will present "Giving Community Cats a Better Life" at the Center Stage, led by Irianne Labangon, who will share practical approaches to improving the lives of free-roaming cats while fostering healthier communities.
The session covers community cat management, the CNVR (Catch, Neuter, Vaccinate, Return) approach, the importance of spaying and neutering, and CARA Welfare's broader advocacy for animal welfare and responsible pet ownership.
As more communities look for humane and sustainable ways to manage free-roaming cat populations, educational programs like this have become a bigger part of the conversation. CNVR helps stabilize community cat populations over time while improving animal health and reducing common welfare concerns — a compassionate approach that benefits both animals and neighborhoods.
CARA's participation at the summit also includes a session for dog owners and enthusiasts. At 5 p.m. on July 24, Lestre Zapanta — known as The Pinoy Dog Whisperer, CARA's partner and a dog behavior specialist and trainer — will lead a Live Dog Training & Q&A at the Center Stage.
Attendees can pick up practical training techniques, learn more about canine behavior, meet some of CARA's adoptable dog ambassadors, and join activities for a chance to win limited-edition CARA merchandise.
CARA's sessions are open to pet owners, community cat feeders, rescuers, volunteers, students, and anyone interested in learning how to contribute to better outcomes for community cats. Through informed, compassionate action, the organization hopes to inspire more individuals and communities to become active partners in animal welfare.
CARA Welfare has spent years championing rescue, adoption, humane population management, and responsible pet ownership through education, volunteerism, and community partnerships. Its participation in the International Pet Summit reflects a shared commitment to compassionate, science-based solutions that strengthen the relationship between people and animals.
