Every Saturday at 8:00 p.m., the lights at Robinsons Malls nationwide will dim. It's intentional — and they're inviting everyone to do the same.
The Department of Energy (DOE) and Robinsons Land Corporation have officially launched O.N.E.: Oras Natin sa Efficiency, a nationwide campaign asking Filipino households, businesses, and establishments to switch off non-essential lights and reduce electricity use for one hour every Saturday, from 8:00 to 9:00 p.m. The launch was held at Robinsons Galleria Ortigas.
"Energy efficiency is not only a government responsibility — it is a shared responsibility among households, businesses, and communities," said DOE Secretary Sharon S. Garin.
As a campaign partner, Robinsons Land will safely dim or shut down non-essential lighting across its mall network during the hour each week — decorative, accent, and display lights in areas not in active use — while keeping safety and essential operations intact.
"We recognize the role of the private sector in translating sustainability goals into practical, everyday action," said Robinsons Land President and CEO Mybelle V. Aragon-GoBio.
The move builds on Robinsons Land's existing sustainability efforts, which include solar power systems, LED lighting, and natural daylight design across its properties. With one of the country's largest mall networks, the company is also positioned to help track measurable energy savings from the campaign over time.
One hour. Every Saturday. Lights off. At scale, it adds up.
